The scale of the major seventh chord is the major scale, while the harmony of the major seventh chord is based in thirds (aka &#8211; &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hearandplay.com\/main\/tertian-chords-and-the-secret-relationship-between-almost-every-chord\">tertian harmony<\/a>&#8220;.)<\/p>\n<h3>Explanation Of The Term &#8220;Major&#8221;<\/h3>\n<p>There are basically two musical qualities &#8211; major and minor.
