The circle of fourths and fifths are interval cycles<\/em>. An interval cycle<\/strong> is basically a sequence of notes (aka – “pitches<\/a>“) starting from a given note, and going up [or down] by a stipulated interval<\/a> until the original note is reached.<\/p>\n

The circle of fourths and fifths are interval cycles that go up and down in perfect fourth and perfect fifth intervals respectively.<\/p>\n

A perfect fourth interval<\/strong> is formed by the relationship between the first and fourth<\/span> tones of the natural major scale<\/a>, while a perfect fifth interval <\/strong>is formed by the relationship between the first and fifth<\/span> tones of the natural major scale.<\/p>\n
