A piece of music is either made to describe the distinctive features of happiness or sadness, the day or the night, the good or the bad, and so on.<\/p>\n<p>The character of a piece (aka &#8211; &#8220;tonality&#8221;) can either be major or minor and it takes a collection of eight notes to form a tonality.<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Here&#8217;s The Technical Name For All The Eight Notes In A Key&#8221; <\/em><\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The first note is the <strong>tonic<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The second note is the <strong>supertonic<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The third note is the <strong>mediant<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The fourth note is the <strong>subdominant<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The fifth note is the <strong>dominant<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The sixth note is the <strong>submediant<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The seventh note is the <strong>subtonic<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The eighth note is the <strong>octave<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The most important note in a tonality is the first note (aka &#8211; &#8220;the tonic&#8221;) and this is because it is the tonal center (key center or the key).<\/p>\n<p>Every key (tonality) has its scale (which is an outline of the notes in that key).
