{"id":704,"date":"2008-11-19T16:08:08","date_gmt":"2008-11-19T23:08:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hearandplay.com\/main\/heres-a-way-to-multiple-your-chordal-vocabulary-overnight"},"modified":"2024-12-25T18:52:51","modified_gmt":"2024-12-26T02:52:51","slug":"heres-a-way-to-multiply-your-chordal-vocabulary-overnight","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hearplaymain.wpenginepowered.com\/heres-a-way-to-multiply-your-chordal-vocabulary-overnight\/","title":{"rendered":"Here&#8217;s a way to multiply your chordal vocabulary&#8230; OVERNIGHT!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>If you&#8217;ve been following this blog for a while, you&#8217;ve seen several <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hearandplay.com\/main\/chord-inversions-the-basics\">lessons<\/a> on &#8220;inversions.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>For those of you who don&#8217;t know, an inversion is simply a different way to play a chord.<\/p>\n<p>And here&#8217;s a simple rule to remember&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>The number of ways to &#8220;invert&#8221; a chord is equal to the number of notes in the chord!<\/p>\n<p>Got that?<\/p>\n<p>Basically, if the chord has 3 notes, there are 3 different <a href=\"https:\/\/my.leadpages.net\/leadbox\/141e8f273f72a2%3A14dcc288eb46dc\/5650082896543744\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">inversions<\/a><script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"\/\/my.leadpages.net\/leadbox-714.js\"><\/script> or ways to play that chord.<\/p>\n<p>If the chord has 4 notes in it, there are 4 inversions for that chord.<\/p>\n<p>Pretty simple.<\/p>\n<p>But it doesn&#8217;t end there.<\/p>\n<p>That rule just applies to inversions, not voicings. There are tons more ways to &#8220;voice&#8221; a <a href=\"https:\/\/my.leadpages.net\/leadbox\/141e8f273f72a2%3A14dcc288eb46dc\/5650082896543744\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">3-tone major chord<\/a><script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"\/\/my.leadpages.net\/leadbox-714.js\"><\/script>&#8230; not just 3.<\/p>\n<p>So don&#8217;t mix inversions up with voicings.
