A <a href=\"https:\/\/my.leadpages.net\/leadbox\/141e8f273f72a2%3A14dcc288eb46dc\/5650082896543744\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">perfect fifth interval<\/a><script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"\/\/my.leadpages.net\/leadbox-714.js\"><\/script> is from (C) to (G)<\/p>\n<p>Combining these two intervals looks like the following:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n(C) to (E) and (C) to (G).<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Since the root is used in both intervals and can only be played once, the (C major) chord is:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>(C) + (E) + (G).\n<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"bigtext\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/my.leadpages.net\/leadbox\/141e8f273f72a2%3A14dcc288eb46dc\/5650082896543744\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Minor Chord<\/a><script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"\/\/my.leadpages.net\/leadbox-714.js\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The (minor chord) is created just like the major chord. The only difference is that it utilizes a &#8220;minor third&#8221; interval instead of a &#8220;major third&#8221; interval (the perfect fifth remains the same).<\/p>\n<p>If a major third is the difference between the root and (3) degree, what do you think a minor third is?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Minor Third:<\/strong> Difference between the root and lowered (3) degree.<\/p>\n<p>The minor third is a major third interval &#8220;squeezed in&#8221; by a half step. For example, in (C major), the major third interval is from (C) to (E).<\/p>\n<p>The minor third simply lowers the (E) a half step to (E flat). Thus a minor third is: (C) &#8211; (E flat).<\/p>\n<div class=\"productinfo\">Comparison:<\/p>\n<p>Major Third = (C) &#8211; (E)<br \/>\nMinor Third = (C) &#8211; (E flat)<br \/>\nPerfect Fifth = (C) &#8211; (G)<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Combining a Minor third and a Perfect fifth creates a minor chord:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\n(C) + (E flat) + (G)<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p class=\"mediumtext\">Here are other ways of figuring out a major or minor chord:<\/p>\n<p>Major Chord: Take the (1) (3) and (5) of the major scale and play them all together.<\/p>\n<p>Minor Chord: Take the (1) (3) and (5) of the minor scale and play them all together.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Learning all your major and minor scales will allow you to know all of your major and minor chords!<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>(In our <a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hearandplay.com\/course\">300-pg course<\/a>, we take you step by step through each key and its major scale, major chord, minor chord, and more!
