But do you really have to remember each note individually?<\/p>\n<p>Not at all.<\/p>\n<p>How many small chords do you see in this C minor 11 chord?<\/p>\n<p>I see a C minor triad:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/hearandplay.cc\/dynamic_image\/pianokeys.php?notes=C,Eb,G,&amp;color=&amp;size=2\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I see an Eb major triad:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/hearandplay.cc\/dynamic_image\/pianokeys.php?notes=Eb,G,Bb,&amp;color=&amp;size=2\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I see a G minor triad:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/hearandplay.cc\/dynamic_image\/pianokeys.php?notes=G,Bb,D&amp;color=&amp;size=2\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I see a Bb major triad:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/hearandplay.cc\/dynamic_image\/pianokeys.php?notes=Bb,D,F&amp;color=&amp;size=2\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I see an Eb major 7 chord:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/hearandplay.cc\/dynamic_image\/pianokeys.php?notes=Eb,G,Bb,D&amp;color=&amp;size=2\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I see a G minor 7 chord:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/hearandplay.cc\/dynamic_image\/pianokeys.php?notes=G,Bb,D,F&amp;color=&amp;size=2\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hearandplay.com\/gkurban.html\">GospelKeys Urban Pro 600<\/a>, Jonathan Powell shows his formula to playing &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/my.leadpages.net\/leadbox\/141e8f273f72a2%3A14dcc288eb46dc\/5650082896543744\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">phat<\/a><script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"\/\/my.leadpages.net\/leadbox-714.js\"><\/script>&#8221; minor 11 chords. If he were voicing this same chord, he&#8217;d put Eb major 7 in his left hand (assuming a bass player already took care of the &#8220;C&#8221;). He&#8217;d then put Bb major in the right hand.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/hearandplay.cc\/dynamic_image\/pianokeys.php?notes=Eb,G,Bb,D,Bb,D,F&amp;color=&amp;size=1\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Sometimes, he inverts the Eb major 7 chord so that the notes are arranged like this:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/hearandplay.cc\/dynamic_image\/pianokeys.php?notes=Bb,D,Eb,G,Bb,D,F&amp;color=&amp;size=1\" alt=\"\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Looking at this from a &#8220;number system&#8221; perspective, that would be: <strong>b3 major 7 + b7 major.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Note: In the key of C major, Eb is the b3 (flatted third) and Bb is the b7 (flatted seventh).<\/p>\n<p>So the next time you see a big, &#8220;monster&#8221; chord, don&#8217;t be intimidated. Instead, look for the smaller chords within it, create your own formula like the one above, make a <a href=\"https:\/\/my.leadpages.net\/leadbox\/141e8f273f72a2%3A14dcc288eb46dc\/5650082896543744\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mental note<\/a><script type=\"text\/javascript\" src=\"\/\/my.leadpages.net\/leadbox-714.js\"><\/script>, and practice it regularly to commit it to memory.<\/p>\n<p>And there you have it!
